Super Trofeo North America Completes Domestic Schedule at Iconic Indianapolis

24 September 2024

Highly Competitive Weekend Sees Seven Different Class Winners in Two Races

Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America visited legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the fifth round of the 2025 championship, once again allowing teams and drivers to share the track with the Lamborghini SC63 prototype that competed in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race.

This was the last domestic round for Super Trofeo before teams and drivers head to Jerez, Spain, for the final North American round that coincides with the World Finals, from November 14-17. The Indianapolis weekend featured 35 cars participating in the four classes in identical Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 machinery. Only one class had a repeat winner in both 50-minute races, with six different teams achieving at least one class win.

Winning drivers and teams by class were:

- Pro Class: Race 1 – Loris Cabirou and Bryson Morris, No. 30 Ansa Motorsports, Lamborghini Broward Huracán; Race 2 – Ernie Francis Jr. and Giano Taurino, No. 88 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami Huracán

- ProAm Class: Race 1 – Keawn Tandon and Hannah Grisham, No. 55 Forty7 Motorsports, Lamborghini Greenwich Huracán; Race 2 – Garrett Adams and Luke Berkeley, No. 64 MLT Motorsports, Lamborghini Naples Huracán

- Am Class: Race 1 and Race 2 – Anthony McIntosh and Glenn McGee, No. 69 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán

- LB Cup: Race 1 – Nick Groat, No. 57 One Motorsports, Lamborghini Newport Beach Huracán; Race 2 – Rodrigo Vales, No. 34 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami Huracán

By winning Saturday’s race and finishing third the day before, Francis and Taurino expanded their Pro class championship lead to 12 points over Kiko Porto and Nico Jamin (No. 4 Ansa Motorsports, Lamborghini Broward Huracán). Danny Formal and Ryan Norman (No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán) are one point behind Porto and Jamin.

In ProAm, Tandon – the 2023 class champion – paired with Grisham for the first time with immediate success, winning Friday’s race. It was Grisham’s first-ever race in Super Trofeo competition. Adams notched his first Super Trofeo win on Saturday, teaming with 2021 Am class champion Berkeley. AJ Muss and Joel Miller (No. 66 Forty7 Motorsports, Lamborghini Philadelphia Huracán) regained the ProAm points lead by two over Nate Stacy and Nick Persing (No. 8 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán).

McIntosh and McGee put themselves in prime position to repeat as Am class champions by winning both races at Indy – the second straight round they’ve done it. They lead Dominic Starkweather (No. 47 Precision Performance Motorsports, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán) by 17 points.

Groat was also able to widen his points lead in LB Cup, thanks to taking the class pole for both races, winning one and finishing second in the other. He leads Vales – who’s won three of the last four LB Cup outings – by 12 points.

Driver Quotes:

Bryson Morris, No. 30 Ansa Motorsports, Lamborghini Broward Huracán (Race 1 winner, Pro class): “Super great start from Loris (Cabirou) with the pole and then pulling away by three seconds, making my life a little bit easier. I was just kind of able to manage the pace. … I had the easy job to do; he did the hard part. Being our first time here, both of us, it’s a really awesome place to have our first win.”

Ernie Francis Jr., No. 88 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami Huracán (Race 2 winner, Pro class): “This is a great step for us in the championship, trying to close the door on this one. It is so stressful being outside the car (while Taurino finished); I was praying the entire time. We knew what we had to do this weekend, we had to capitalize on it and maximize the points. … We did exactly what we needed to do.”

Giano Taurino, No. 88 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami Huracán (Race 2 winner, Pro class): “It feels very good. All the hard work that we’re doing is starting to pay off. It’s a blessing. We’ll keep our faith and we’ll do our best to close this out.“

Hannah Grisham, No. 55 Forty7 Motorsports, Lamborghini Greenwich Huracán (Race 1, ProAm class): “That was awesome!” said Grisham, a Heart of Racing Team development driver. “Keawn did an amazing job and handed me the car in an amazing position. I couldn’t ask for much more. … It’s something I’ll remember forever.”

Luke Berkeley, No. 64 MLT Motorsports, Lamborghini Naples Huracán (Race 2 winner, ProAm class): “It was tough. I settled into second and figured I would land there, but some traffic made it easy to catch up to AJ (Muss). I knew it wouldn’t be easy to get by him but when the gap opened up, I went for it. Respectful driving and I think it’s one of my best drives to date. I drove my heart out.”

Garrett Adams, No. 64 MLT Motorsports, Lamborghini Naples Huracán (Race 2 winner, ProAm class): “It’s legendary (to win at Indy)! Couldn’t ask for a better location, better day.”

Glenn McGee, No. 69 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán (Races 1 and 2 winner, Am class): “We knew we had good long-run pace. Tony just took care of the car (in Race 1) and ran down the leader, which helped because when we came out of the pits, we were right on him. I kept poking at the guy in front, let him drive his tires off and then we were able to get him.”

Anthony McIntosh, No. 69 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán (Races 1 and 2 winner, Am class): “Basically, we did the same thing (in Race 2) as yesterday. Managed the tires from the start. Glenn knew he had to go for a couple laps, otherwise he was going to get caught in the scrum, so he went and then dialed it back. Then when I got in the car, it was just manage the gap, manage the gap, manage the gap. We’ve got a little buffer (in points) going to Jerez, so that’s good.”

Nick Groat, No. 57 One Motorsports, Lamborghini Newport Beach Huracán (Race 1 winner, LB Cup class): “This was one of the more tough races because it wasn’t battling people the whole time. It was really a mental game with myself, just staying focused and doing everything right lap after lap after lap. You have no words for being up on the podium at somewhere as amazing as Indy. It’s such a historic place, it’s incredible.”

Rodrigo Vales, No. 34 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami Huracán (Race 2 winner, LB Cup class): “I was trying to go fast as hell to get there. I push and push and push, and he was telling me (on the radio) to push more. We make it together. It’s amazing to win here, it’s great. It’s like a real nice sensation.”
