The winners of Lamborghini’s Esports championship get to drive a Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 at the Misano World Circuit
Automobili Lamborghini fulfilled the dream of two young sim drivers, the winners of the 2021 edition of The Real Race, transforming the virtual driving experience of Lamborghini’s Esports championship into a real test drive on the track. The Real Race Esports championship was in fact created to give sim racing fans the opportunity to experience a day at the track behind the wheel of a real race car.
The young winners of the 2021 edition of The Real Race are Brazilian Fidel Santos Moreira, who triumphed in the grouping for North and South America, and Australian Andrew Phillip O'Hara, number one in the Asia Oceania region. Thanks to the skills they demonstrated on the Assetto Corsa Competizione simulator, the two sim drivers were given the opportunity to live a unique experience: driving a real Lamborghini race car. The new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 was at their disposal at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for a test drive supported by the Squadra Corse development team. The day ended in Sant’Agata with an exclusive visit to the company headquarters.
Moreira and O’Hara came out on top last year in a competition that saw as many as 800 competitors from the Americas and 750 from Asia and Oceania at the starting tapes, emerging as the fastest at the end of a calendar that included 10 rounds, consisting of 14 sprint races and 3 endurance races, at iconic circuits such as Monza, Spa-Francorchamps, Suzuka, Laguna Seca, and the Misano circuit itself.
Fidel Moreira was very enthusiastic about his days spent with Lamborghini: “The experience of going to a paddock is unique for any speed lover. Visiting a racetrack with the sound of the cars is amazing, plus being able to meet the official drivers of the brand and drive a Lamborghini race car was something surreal and a one-of-a-kind opportunity. I lived a dream in the form of turns and laps, the feeling the car gives your body, and the sensation of speed and grip can’t be explained in words. These are emotions that only a Lamborghini can give you.”
The South American’s words were echoed by those of Andrew O’Hara: ‘‘I want to thank Lamborghini for giving me the opportunity to drive a real race car. It’s hard to describe the experience in words, probably the only one that comes close is ‘awesome’. Feeling the G-force, the heat, and the sheer ferocity of a race car is something I won’t forget anytime soon. The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 is a fantastic car. Meeting the people involved behind the scenes and some super fast drivers was really fantastic.”
Once again this year, Lamborghini has organized the third edition of The Real Race, viewed as a tool for dialoguing with young motorsport enthusiasts but deeply rooted in the DNA of the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese, which has always drawn on its core values.
