On the occasion of International Environment Day on June 5, Lamborghini is announcing another step it has taken in the direction of an increasingly eco-sustainable future, also as regards corporate logistics. Thanks to an agreement between Lamborghini and ÖBB Rail Cargo, transport of the Urus body shells from Germany to Italy will be replaced with rail transport that will allow CO2 emissions to be reduced by 85%.

The initiative paves the way to the route announced with the global “Direzione Cor Tauri” program, which plans for a total shift to hybrid by 2024 and a new full electric model during the second half of the decade. With an epochal investment of over € 1.5 billion within the next 4 years, the program will lead to the decarbonization of the future Lamborghini models and of the Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters. The objective is to cut CO2 emissions on the entire range starting from 2025.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said, “Our decarbonization path continues. Today it translates into tangible actions. Following the announcement of the Direzione Cor Tauri program, now we are presenting one more piece of our integrated plan, with which we want to give concrete answers to the environmental challenges of today with actions on our products and on our Sant’Agata Bolognese site.”

The initiative is however an integral part of the brand’s vision: a full-scale sustainable approach that ranges from the production lines to the offices, while dedicating attention to employees and the supply chain, and this has allowed the Sant’Agata Bolognese site to obtain the coveted goal of neutral CO2 certification in 2015.
