Green light from the Region to implement the development plan submitted to the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy

Automobili Lamborghini’s ambitious Direzione Cor Tauri program, the plan to electrify future models and decarbonize the entire value chain, supported by the largest investment in the company’s history, continues to grow.

Yesterday morning, Tuesday January 9, a meeting was held between the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based company and the Emilia-Romagna Region to confirm Invitalia’s approval of the first step of the “COR TAURI” Development Contract. The plan was submitted to the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy to secure a financial contribution of more than 100 million euros, adding to the substantial investment already allocated.

Invitalia, the National Agency for Inward Investment and Business Development, which is under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, confirmed that the access phase of the development contract has been successfully concluded and that the proposal meets all the formal requirements to proceed to the next preliminary stages. The Emilia-Romagna Region has given the green light to access the second phase of the application. The funding will go to support strategic investments aimed to enable the full transition toward the decarbonization of the company’s vehicles.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked: “Our ambitious Direzione Cor Tauri program, which also represents the company’s largest ever investment, continues to progress. Access to this funding, which is provided by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, demonstrates the quality of our project. This sum will help to implement the research and development phases and recruit new hires to be placed in the specific context of electrification.”

The industrial investment and the extensive program of Research and Development planned in the initiative are the first steps toward the full electric transition of the Lamborghini range and a concrete symbol of the company’s commitment to sustainability. With an expected workforce increase of some 500 employees, the Direzione Cor Tauri program aims to consolidate the Italian and regional automotive supply chain and support its transition to electrification. The production site expansion with highly environmentally sustainable solutions will enable the creation of a research infrastructure in preparation for the development of the new range of electric vehicles, as well as reinforcing the three production departments involved.

“Projects such as the one submitted by Automobili Lamborghini,” underlined the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, and the Regional Councilor for Economic Development and Green Economy, Labor, Training and International Relations, Vincenzo Colla, “make an extraordinary contribution to boosting the growth of Emilia-Romagna’s Motor Valley while focusing on environmental sustainability. This is the right way to continue to compete in the world with our excellence, creating new development, new skills, and stable, high-quality employment.”
