Following IDEM certification, the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based company is among the first in the automotive sector to achieve this milestone

Automobili Lamborghini’s ongoing strategic trajectory toward full realization of the principles of inclusion and equal opportunity has reached a new goal. After being one of the first companies in the automotive sector to attain IDEM certification this past November, earning official recognition of its field-verified application of international gender equality standards, the House of Sant’Agata has also been awarded UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification, endorsed by the Italian government according to the provisions of Law 162/2021.

The certification was issued by DNV, an independent organization that provides global assurance and risk management services, which verifies gender equality management system guidelines in addition to the adoption of specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the implementation of gender equality objectives. Specifically, the UNI/PdR 125:2022 standard supports organizations in promoting gender equality within the corporate culture, improving and enhancing individual and organizational performance.

Umberto Tossini, Chief Human Capital Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, commented: “We’ve been working for years in a spirit of service to the social community to implement the principles of responsibility and equity. Our goal is to ensure a fair and inclusive work environment, and UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification is a piece of the larger design conceived to value people, with their diversity and uniqueness. The certification attests that the measures we’ve taken to eliminate the gender gap in terms of growth opportunities, equal pay for equal work, attention to well-being in a holistic sense, and parenting support, are effective and will be continuously monitored and perhaps even improved over time.”

“The target Lamborghini reached is an important one. In fact, adopting the requirements established by the standard procedure of reference means promoting and defending diversity and equal opportunity at the workplace. UNI/PdR 125 is the only guideline that exists today on the subject of gender equality that, for the first time, allows commitment to achieving a gender equality policy in the company to be measured and certified. It is a tangible tool for bringing about a true change in paradigm,” added Massimo Alvaro, Business Assurance CEO of DNV in Italy.

Over the years, Lamborghini has fostered an increase in the number of female employees by hiring highly qualified women professionals, especially those with STEM backgrounds. The company also assures – a measure in place since 2018 – pay parity between female and male employees with equal qualifications and duties. Regarding gender diversity, Lamborghini has also long been a member of both the Capo D network, a community of equal opportunity companies promoted by the Metropolitan City of Bologna, and Valore D, founded more than a decade ago as the first association of companies in Italy committed to gender balance and an inclusive culture in organizations and in our country as a whole.

Automobili Lamborghini gives the utmost attention to the issue of parenting, and the protections offered start with maternity leave. In Italy there is a mandatory five-month period of leave paid 100% by the Social Security Agency and a subsequent optional six-month period of leave paid at 30%. Through its supplemental contract, Lamborghini incentivizes parental equality with a 30% increase in the economic supplement for the first six months of optional leave, rising to 40% provided that the other parent has taken a period of at least fifteen continuous days of the same leave.  New mothers returning to work are offered “mom coaching” programs, special discounts with daycare centers and summer childcare services, along with paid leave. To promote a culture of equality within the family sphere as well, Lamborghini has also developed a one-of-a-kind “dad coaching” project.

Following the IDEM certification, Lamborghini thus also achieved among its 2022 goals the UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification, which supports organizations in promoting gender equality by transforming corporate culture, promoting an ethical vision of work and business activities, and strengthening awareness of the variety of personal and professional characteristics, to the benefit of both corporate and social growth and competitive value.
