Lamborghini Squadra Corse joins the elite of sports car racing with the development of their first LMDh prototype, set to debut in 2024 in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship.
Le Mans Daytona hybrid is a new category of sports prototype race cars set to debut in 2023: it represents the perfect fit for Lamborghini, what with the brand’s plan to have their entire vehicle range hybridized by the end of 2024. The LMDh program will add to Squadra Corse’s successful GT platform (Super Trofeo and GT3).
“I am absolutely delighted that Lamborghini will be taking the next step in our motorsport journey,” says Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini Head of Motorsport. “LMDh will play a special role in Lamborghini’s motorsports strategy, giving us the unique opportunity to expand our customer racing activities to new platforms and enforce our long-term partnership with customer teams and drivers.”
Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO, adds: “This step-up into the highest echelon of sports car racing marks an important milestone for our company. On one hand, it will give our successful motorsports program even more visibility, but it will also allow us to test future technologies: our LMDh prototypes will become our most sophisticated open laboratory on four wheels.”
Stay tuned for an exciting future of Lamborghini performances in the world’s most prestigious endurance races.
