Lamborghini Veneno: the Few-Off for the 50th anniversary

8 августа 2019

Can a single car incorporate a car manufacturer’s fifty-year-long evolution in technology and style? With Veneno and Veneno Roadster, Lamborghini not only celebrated the 50th anniversary of its foundation (1963), but has also given life to a highly exclusive few-off that has brought the concept of a super sport roadster to the subsequent level, knocking down all the barriers with the world of racing.

“THE EXTRAORDINARY IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK”

It was back in 2013 when the Geneva Motor Show expected a lot from Lamborghini insofar as, only two years earlier, it had bewitched the world with its new Aventador Coupé. Expectations were high, but not quite this high. When the Veneno was unveiled, nobody could expect that a car with such an extreme design and incredible performance features could fully realize the Company’s 50th Anniversary motto: “100 Years of Innovation in Half the Time”.

A RACE CAR PROTOTYPE APPROVED FOR ROAD USE

The design of the Veneno is bold, powerful and futuristic, consistently with its performance. Powered by its amazing 6.5-liter V12 and 750 HP engine, the Veneno reaches a maximum speed of 355 km/h (220.5 mph), accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in only 2.8 seconds. It features technical and aerodynamic solutions that are unprecedented for Lamborghini, such as the 100%-carbon-fiber monocoque, frame and body, the 7-speed ISR transmission with five different driving modes, and innovative materials such as the Forged Composites ® and the Carbon Skin.

“EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED”: THE DESIGN OF THE VENENO

In the Veneno the Centro Stile Lamborghini wanted to raise once more the limits and boundaries of design. It is radically inspired by race cars, especially from endurance racing. The sculpture is made to emphasize the 3dimensional effect accelerating dramatically towards the rear wing. On the front end, the hood features a central element that connects to the wheel arches through two wings generating a tremendous downforce. The two openings that convey the air from the front splitter to the higher portion of the car are hexagonally cut, precluding to the cut on the nose of the Aventador SVJ. The characteristic Y-shaped headlamps join the wheel arches to form a single element shaped to convey the airflow towards the engine. The central portion, accommodating the powerful V12 engine, is designed to maximize the dissipation of heat as well as the eye-catching design: from the air intake and the little tail above the rear window, which will be designed into the Huracán GT3 EVO 10th Edition, to the numerous hexagonal openings running above the engine, which bring to mind enormous gills thrusting air into the large adjustable spoiler. The rear is a complete masterpiece. The brake lights are formed by horizontally positioned Ys drawn from the rear lights of the Urus. They combine perfectly well with the aerodynamic elements and the interplay of full and empty spaces to exploit air outflow.

A FEW-OFF LIMITED EDITION

The Veneno is a very rare model; indeed, it is among Lamborghini’s rarest models. There are only 13 worldwide: three Veneno Coupé were produced in the colors of the Italian flag (green, white and red); a gray one is currently on display at MUDETEC (the Museum of Lamborghini Technologies hosted in the production plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese), and nine Veneno Roadsters. Each one of these cars has been sold at a price of approximately three million euros before tax, and they were all sold out even before being unveiled.
